In 1977 Lotus introduced its new car, the Lotus 78. It was revolutionary in its design, particularly concerning the aerodynamics. The Lotus 78 offered superior grip and stability and signified the start of the ground effect era. In its debut season it won 5 races but Lotus missed out on the championship. However, they won the titles both in 1978, with Mario Andretti taking the driver's title.
Tamiya have rereleased this kit with the addition of photo etched parts. The kit also contains fabric seat belts and builds up to an immensely detailed replica. This can be built up as either Mario Andretti (car #5) or Ronnie Peterson's (car #6) car. Please note that this kit does not contain the John Player Special decals.
